Our Brick Arch Services in Atlanta
Every common arch form, built new or restored on a period property.
-
Jack Arches
The flat arch used above windows and doors on countless Atlanta homes. It looks like a straight course but every brick is tapered and the whole span carries load, which is exactly why a botched one sags.
-
Segmental Arches
A shallow curve spanning wider openings, common over garage doors and porch entries. The gentle rise gives a facade movement without the formality of a full semicircle, and it carries load efficiently.
-
Semicircular Arches
The full radius arch, at its best over entryways, garden gates and feature windows. The strongest form of the lot, and the one that makes the most confident architectural statement on a frontage.
-
Tudor and Gothic Arches
Pointed and four-centred arches suited to Atlanta’s Tudor Revival homes. These demand careful setting out from multiple radius points, which is precisely why they are so rarely attempted well.
-
Interior Feature Arches
Exposed brick arches over interior openings, fireplaces and wine cellars. Indoors the brick is seen close up in raking light, so joint consistency and brick selection matter more than they do outside.
-
Arch Restoration
Sagging, cracked or previously patched arches taken down and rebuilt to the original geometry, with matched brick and mortar. Common on older Atlanta properties where a lintel behind has rusted and expanded.
Why Choose Our Brick Arches Company in Atlanta
-
We Draw It Before We Build It
Every arch starts as a full-size template setting out radius, springing points and each individual brick. Working it out on paper first is what keeps joints even and stops the crown drifting off centre.
-
Proper Centring, Left in Place
Arches are built over timber formwork that must stay supported until the mortar has genuinely gained strength. Striking centring early is the classic cause of a sagging arch, and we simply do not rush it.
-
Tapered Joints, Cut Brick
Voussoirs are cut and gauged so joints taper cleanly toward the centre of the radius. Faking an arch with wedge-shaped mortar joints is quicker, looks wrong, and weathers badly within a few seasons.
-
We Check What Carries the Load
Many Atlanta arches are decorative faces over a steel lintel. We establish which yours is before touching it, because rebuilding a genuinely structural arch is a very different job from refacing one.
-
Historic Geometry Respected
On period homes we replicate the original rise, brick coursing and joint profile rather than substituting a modern approximation. Matching the arch next door is usually the whole point of the work.
-
Craft Backed by Cover
This is specialist work and we treat it that way, with photographs of comparable Atlanta arches we have built and restored, and full contractor licensing and insurance behind every project.
